SNAKE GOURD GRAVY

Preparation Method :

  • Cook moong dal in pressure pan for 4 whistles.
  • Grate coconut.                           
  • Chop snake gourd into small pieces.
  • Fry urad dal, red chillies and asafoetida in 1 a teaspoons of oil and grind into a coarse paste with the grated coconut.
  • Pressure-cook snake gourd in salt and water for greenness. Add masala paste.
  • Temper the mustard seeds and broken urad dal in oil and add to kootu.
  • Add cooked dal, curry leaves and stir.
  • Serve hot. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams of snake gourd
  • 200 grams of moong dal
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon broken urad dal
  • 2 teaspoon cooking oil
  • A few curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Masala

  • 5 tablespoon coconut
  • 2 teaspoon broken urad dal
  • 4 red chillies
  • 4 tablespoon asafoetida
