Preparation Method :
- Soak dal in hot water & pressure cook for 5 whistles.
- Extract tamarind juice.
- While tempering mustard seeds and urad dal, add curry leaves and coconut and fry until light golden in color.
- Chop the raw banana into small square pieces.
- Add tamarind extract, sambhar powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, chopped vegetable and salt, and pressure-cook for a whistle.
- Mix cooked dal and the tempered ingredients to the banana kootu. Heat all together until it thickens.
- Serve with hot dal rice.
INGREDIENTS
- 300 grams of raw banana
- 200 grams of thoor dal
- 2 teaspoon sambhar powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoon asafoetida
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 100 grams of coconut
- 1 teaspoon broken urad dal
- 2 teaspoon of Cooking oil
- A few curry leaves
- Medium- lemon sized tamarind
- Salt to taste
