Preparation Method :
- Chop onions and chillies finely.
- Extract juice of tamarind.
- Heat oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter. Add green chillies.
- Add onions, tamarind extract, turmeric powder, salt and asafoetida.
- Add a little water and pressure-cook all ingredients for 2 whistles. Open lid, and if required, keep over fire to thicken the onion gravy.
- Add a little jaggery to neutralise the taste.
- Serve hot with arisi uppuma.

- lemon-sized Tamarind
- 100 grams Onions
- 6 Green chillies
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Jaggery
- 2 teaspoon Asafoetida
- 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
- 2 tablespoon Rice flour
- Salt to taste
