LADY'S FINGER COOKED IN TAMARIND GRAVY

Preparation Method :
- Add boiling water and extract juice of tamarind.
- Soak thoor dal in boiling water for 15 minutes and pressure-cook for 5 whistles.
- Chop lady finger into thin round slices.
- Slit chillies into half.
- Allow mustard seeds to splutter in oil and add the green chillies and lady finger.
- Stir for a minute before adding turmeric powder and asafoetida powder.
- Sprinkle water and close lid for 2 minutes. Open lid again and stir.
- Repeat process till seeds of the lady finger are cooked.
- Add tamarind juice and salt and boil for 2 minutes.
- Stir and add cooked dal to the kootu. Stir boil for 2 minutes until it thickens.
- Remove from fire.
- Serve hot with plain rice or dal rice.
INGREDIENTS
- 800 grams of lady finger
- 200 grams of thoor dal
- 10 Green chillies
- 4 tablespoon asafoetida
- 1 teaspoon turmeric Powder
- 2 lemon sized tamarind
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
- Salt to taste
