GREEN CHILLI KUZHAMBU (THOKKU STYLE)

Preparation Method :

  • Cut the green chillies to round shapes.
  • Peel and cut the small onions to small pieces.
  • Soak the tamarind and take the extract. Keep aside.
  • Heat a heavy bottomed vessel or kadai with oil. Tamper with mustard seeds, fenugreek, and curry leaves.
  • Put in the green chillies and onion pieces. Fry them on a low flame. When it fried well add the tamarind extract, salt and turmeric powder.
  • Add necessary water. When it gets a thick form, remove from flame.
  • This green chilli kulambu can be used as thokku or pickle.
  • Good combinations for curd rice, idly and dosha.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 grams green chillies
  • 30 small onions
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 small lemon sized tamarind
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • 50 ml Gingelly oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek
