DRY LENTIL BALTI

Serves :

Preparation Time :
30 minutes

Cooking Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Drain the lentils and place in a saucepan with water, the turmeric and the Balti spice mix. Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes, or until tender. Mash the lentils lightly with a fork.
  • Stir in the tomatoes and coriander. Simmer for a further 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat the ghee or oil in a pan over a medium to high heat. Add the onion and chilli and fry for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Turn the lentil mix into a serving dish and top with the onion mixture.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams red lentils, soaked for 30 minutes in cold water
  • 2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 teaspoon Balti spice mix
  • 250 grams chopped tomatoes
  • Fresh coriander, chopped
  • 2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 green chilli, finely chopped
  • 50 ml Sesame oil
