ONION DHAL

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the chopped spring onions to the pan and fry, stirring constantly, until lightly browned.
  • Reduce the heat and add the spice mixture to the pan. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes. Add the lentils blend together.
  • Stir in the water, simmer to low flame and cook for about 20-25 minutes or until the lentils are cooked thoroughly.
  • Transfer the onion lentils to a warm serving dish.
  • Garnish it with the chopped green chillies and fresh coriander leaves, serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 150 grams masoor dhal, cleaned and rinsed
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 1 small bunch spring onions, trimmed and chopped, including the green part
  • 250 ml water
  • 2 fresh green chillies, finely chopped
  • Fresh coriander leaves

Spice Mixture

  • 1 inch fresh ginger root, finely chopped
  • 4-5 fresh garlic cloves, crushed
  • Salt and chilli powder, to taste
  • A pinch of turmeric
