Preparation Method :
- Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the chopped spring onions to the pan and fry, stirring constantly, until lightly browned.
- Reduce the heat and add the spice mixture to the pan. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes. Add the lentils blend together.
- Stir in the water, simmer to low flame and cook for about 20-25 minutes or until the lentils are cooked thoroughly.
- Transfer the onion lentils to a warm serving dish.
- Garnish it with the chopped green chillies and fresh coriander leaves, serve immediately.
INGREDIENTS
- 150 grams masoor dhal, cleaned and rinsed
- 50 ml Cooking oil
- 1 small bunch spring onions, trimmed and chopped, including the green part
- 250 ml water
- 2 fresh green chillies, finely chopped
- Fresh coriander leaves
Spice Mixture
- 1 inch fresh ginger root, finely chopped
- 4-5 fresh garlic cloves, crushed
- Salt and chilli powder, to taste
- A pinch of turmeric
