Preparation Method :
- Soak thoor dal, in hot water for 15 minutes and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
- Extract tamarind juice after soaking in hot water.
- Chop brinjal into square medium pieces.
- Add a 200 ml of water and pressure-cook brinjal, turmeric powder and salt for a whistle. Cool and open lid.
- Heat oil and temper mustard seeds. Add tamarind juice and boil. Add curry leaves, pitlai powder, dal and the cooked ingredients and boil for a couple of minutes.
- Serve hot with dal and rice.
INGREDIENTS
- 400 grams of brinjal
- 200 grams of thoor dal
- 4 teaspoons pitlai powder
- Medium lemon-sized tamarind
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon of Cooking oil
- A few curry leaves
- Salt to taste
