BRINJAL GRAVY

20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Soak thoor dal, in hot water for 15 minutes and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
  • Extract tamarind juice after soaking in hot water.
  • Chop brinjal into square medium pieces.
  • Add a 200 ml of water and pressure-cook brinjal, turmeric powder and salt for a whistle. Cool and open lid.
  • Heat oil and temper mustard seeds. Add tamarind juice and boil. Add curry leaves, pitlai powder, dal and the cooked ingredients and boil for a couple of minutes.
  • Serve hot with dal and rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 400 grams of brinjal
  • 200 grams of thoor dal
  • 4 teaspoons pitlai powder
  • Medium lemon-sized tamarind
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of Cooking oil
  • A few curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
