BOTTLE GOURD IN YOGURT SAUCE

Preparation Method :
- Heat the oil in a thick-bottomed pan till it starts smoking. Reduce heat, add asafoetida and mix till it dissolves.
- Add red chilli paste and stir for about half a minute. Add the bottle gourd and fry for a minute or two.
- Add in all the remaining ingredients and stir well. Adjust seasoning with salt. Cook covered, stirring occasionally.
- Remove when the vegetable is done but firm to bite. Serve hot.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg Bottle gourd, scraped, washed, cut into thick rounds
- 150 grams Yogurt, hung
- 50 ml Mustard oil
- 2 teaspoon Red chilli paste
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala
- 1 teaspoon Dried ginger powder
- ¾ teaspoon Fennel powder
- A small pinch Asafoetida
- Salt to taste
