BLACK EYED PEA CURRY

Preparation Method :

  • Boil the black-eyed peas in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder, salt, asafoetida, and 3 cups water for 15-20 minutes.
  • Heat the ghee in a wok or pan; add onions, garlic, ginger and dried red chillies. Saute till light brown.
  • Add the tomatoes and the remaining ingredients. Fry till the tomatoes turn soft.
  • Pour in the boiled black-eyed pea mixture with the water. Mix well. Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams Black-eyed pea, washed, soaked, drained and boiled  
  • 100 grams Ghee
  • 100 grams Tomatoes, chopped
  • 75 grams Onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, chopped
  • 2 teaspoon Garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Asafoetida  
  • 3-4 Dried red chillies  
  • 2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds
  • 2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • Red chilli powder and salt, to taste
