Preparation Method :
- Soak chana dal in boiling water for 10 minutes. Chop chillies finely.
- Pressure-cook the rice and chana dal (add 1 liter of water for 400 grams of rice) for 2 whistles. You may add salt to it while cooking.
- Heat coconut oil and roast mustard seeds, green chillies, curry leaves, and asafoetida powder. Now add cooked rice and grated coconut to it and stir well. Allow it to turn soft and the water to evaporate.
- Remove from fire, and make oval-shaped balls and steam in rice-cooker for 15 minutes.
- Allow it to cool and change into a vessel.
- Serve with tamarind chilly sauce.

- 10 Green chillies
- 4 teaspoons Asafoetida
- A few Curry leaves
- 4 tablespoons grated coconut
- 4 teaspoons Coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- Salt to taste
