Preparation Method :
- Skin the small onions.
- Soak thoor dal for 15 minutes and pressure-cook for 5 whistles.
- Soak the tamarind and extract the juice.
- Chop coriander leaves for 3 tablespoons.
- Heat the oil in a pressure-pan and add the mustard seeds to splutter. Then add methi seeds and red chillies.
- Next add onions and saute for half a minute before adding sambhar powder, tamarind juice, asafoetida, salt and some of the curry leaves.
- Cover pressure-pan and cook till the first whistle.
- Open after cooker cools and add the dal and rest of the curry leaves.
- Stir for a minute till it thickens and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice and any form of vegetables.

- 150 grams of small onions
- 2 teaspoon of asafoetida powder
- 150 gram of thoor dal
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 3 teaspoons of sambhar powder
- 1 teaspoon of methi seeds
- Medium lemon-sized tamarind
- 2 Red Chilly
- 1 teaspoon of Cooking oil
- A few curry leaves
- 3 tablespoon of coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
