Preparation Method :
- Soak thoor dal for 15 minutes and cook in pressure pan for 5 whistles .
- Squeeze lemon juice. Slit green chillies and chop ginger fine or make paste.
- Chop tomatoes into medium small pieces.
- Heat oil, and allow mustard seeds to splutter. In 100 ml of water add turmeric powder, green chilies salt, ginger, tomatoes and asafoetida powder.
- Cook for 2 minutes and then add the dal. Add more water if needed.
- Add lime juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. An easy to prepare rasam.
- Serve hot with rice.

- 100 grams of Thoor dal
- 200 grams of Tomato
- 1 teaspoon Ginger
- 4 Green chillies
- 1 teaspoon Asafoetida powder
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 4 tablespoon Lime juice
- 1 teaspoon Cooking oil
- Salt to taste
