Preparation Method :
- In a pan add the plantains, tamarind juice, turmeric powder, salt and cook covered on low heat till the vegetable is tender and dry. Set aside.
- Heat oil and add all the ingredients for tempering. When the mustard seeds splutter, add the slit green chillies and the cooked plantains.
- Sprinkle in the poriyal powder and the grated coconut and cook for another minute for the flavours to blend.
- Serve hot with rice.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 raw green plantains, Peeled and cut into small cubes.
- A lime-sized tamarind ball, soaked and pulp extracted
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 green chillies, slit lengthwise
- 1 tablespoon poriyal powder
- 2 tablespoon grated fresh coconut
Tempering
- 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon black gram dhal
- 1 teaspoon Bengal gram dhal
- 1 dry red chilli halved
- ½ teaspoon asafoetida powder
- A few curry leaves
