Preparation Method :
- Mix the yam with the salt and turmeric powder and cook without adding water to the vegetable. Drain and allow to cool completely.
- Heat the oil and add all the ingredients for tempering. When the mustard seeds splutter, add the slit green chillies and the cooked vegetable. Stir well.
- Sprinkle in the grated coconut and poriyal powder. Mix well.
- Serve hot.
INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams yam, rinsed, peeled and finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 green chillies, slit lengthwise
- 2 tablespoon grated fresh coconut
- 2 tablespoon poriyal powder
- Salt to taste
Tempering
- 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon black gram dal
- 1 teaspoon Bengal gram dal
- 1 dry red chilli, halved
- ½ teaspoon asafoetida powder
- A few curry leaves
