Preparation Method :
- Grind the red gram dal and the red chillies to a smooth paste with salt and asafetida powder. Set aside.
- In a heavy frying pan, cook the beans till tender by adding very little water. Remove beans from pan and set aside.
- Reheat the pan with 2 tablespoon of oil and add all the ingredients for tempering.
- When the mustard seeds splutter, add the red gram dal paste and fry on low heat stirring occasionally, till the mixture is well cooked and crisp.
- Add the cooked beans and fry for a couple of minutes for the flavours to blend.
- Serve hot.
INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams French beans, chopped fine
- 150 grams red gram dal, soaked and drained
- 6 dry red chillies, soaked and drained
- ½ teaspoon asafetida powder
- Salt to taste
Tempering
- 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Bengal gram dal
- 1 teaspoon black gram dal
- 1 dry red chilli, halved
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- A few curry leaves
