PONGAL

Preparation Method :

  • Wash rice and lentil together.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan and add peppercorns and cumin seeds.
  • When slightly brown add rice and lentil mixture and saute.
  • Add ginger and salt and enough water to cook the rice and lentil on slow heat.
  • Cover till nearly cooked. Garnish with ghee and serve hot with sambar.

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams white rice
  • 750 grams lentil, washed
  • 2 teaspoon whole peppercorn
  • 2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped.
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoon ghee to garnish
  • 5 teaspoon sesame oil
