Preparation Method :
- Dry roast the ingredients for the spice paste and powder fine. Add a little water and make a paste. Set aside.
- Heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. When they splutter, add the tamarind juice and salt.
- Cover and simmer on low heat for at least 10 - 12 minutes. Add in the spice paste and bring to the boil.
- Add the oil and chopped curry leaves just before turning off the heat.
- Serve hot with rice.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
- A big lime-sized tamarind ball, soaked and juice extracted
- Salt to taste
- A few curry leaves, chopped
Spice Paste
- 2 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 2 tablespoon Bengal gram dhal
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 2 dry red chillies
- ½ teaspoon asafetida powder
Tempering
- 2 teaspoon Cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
