PEPPER KUZHAMBU(MILAGU KUZHAMBU)

Preparation Method :

  • Dry roast the ingredients for the spice paste and powder fine. Add a little water and make a paste. Set aside.
  • Heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. When they splutter, add the tamarind juice and salt.
  • Cover and simmer on low heat for at least 10 - 12 minutes. Add in the spice paste and bring to the boil.
  • Add the oil and chopped curry leaves just before turning off the heat.
  • Serve hot with rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • A big lime-sized tamarind ball, soaked and juice extracted
  • Salt to taste
  • A few curry leaves, chopped

Spice Paste

  • 2 tablespoon black peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoon Bengal gram dhal
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • ½ teaspoon asafetida powder
