KEERAI MASIAL(MASHED AMARANTH)

Preparation Method :

  • Cook the leaves, take care not to lose their green colour. Allow to stand for few minutes and blend.
  • Mix the amaranth with the green gram dal and salt and reheat.
  • Heat the ghee and add all the ingredients for tempering. When the mustard seeds splutter, add to the mashed amaranth.
  • Serve hot with rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams green gram dhal , rinsed and cooked
  • 2 bunches amaranth leaves, cleaned, rinsed and chopped
  • Salt to taste

Tempering

  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black gram dal
  • 1 dry red chilli, halved
  • ½ teaspoon asafoetida powder
