Preparation Method :
- Melt the butter in a large pan. Add the onion to the pan with the ginger, garlic, cinnamon stick, cardamoms, cloves and peppercorns. Fry gently until the onion is soft.
- Drain the rice and lentils and add the lentils to the pan. Fry gently, stirring, for 2 minutes.
- Add the water and salt to taste and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add the rice and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
- Transfer the rice mixture to a warmed serving dish, remove the cinnamon stick before serving.

- 150 grams red lentils, rinsed and soaked
- 500 ml boiling water
- 150 grams long-grain rice, rinsed and soaked
- 50 grams butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1-2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 inch piece cinnamon stick
- 5-6 cardamom pods
- 6 cloves
- 10-12 peppercorns
- Salt, to taste
