Preparation Method :
- Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add bay leaves, black peppercorns, cardamoms, cloves, cinnamon and cumin seeds. Stir for ½ minute.
- Drain dal and add to the cooker. Stir fry for 1 minute. Wash rice and add to the dal and stir for 1-2 minutes. Add salt and water.
- Close the cooker lid, bring to one whistle on high heat, reduce heat and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the pressure drop completely.
- Open the cooker and fluff up the rice with a fork. Serve hot.

- 300 grams channa dal - soaked for 2 hours
- 500 grams long grain basmati rice
- 7 tablespoon of ghee
- 2 bay leaves
- 8 black peppercorns
- 6 black cardamoms
- 6 cloves
- 2" stick cinnamons
- 1 ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 ½ teaspoon salt
