CHANNA DAL KHICHRI

Preparation Method :

  • Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add bay leaves, black peppercorns, cardamoms, cloves, cinnamon and cumin seeds. Stir for ½ minute.
  • Drain dal and add to the cooker. Stir fry for 1 minute. Wash rice and add to the dal and stir for 1-2 minutes. Add salt and water.
  • Close the cooker lid, bring to one whistle on high heat, reduce heat and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the pressure drop completely.
  • Open the cooker and fluff up the rice with a fork. Serve hot.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 300 grams channa dal - soaked for 2 hours
  • 500 grams long grain basmati rice
  • 7 tablespoon of ghee
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 8 black peppercorns
  • 6 black cardamoms
  • 6 cloves
  • 2" stick cinnamons
  • 1 ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 ½ teaspoon salt
