Preparation Method :
- Soak the parboiled rice and black gram dal separately for about 3 hours.
- Grind the soaked dal to a fine batter.
- Grind the rice into a batter, a little coarser than the dal.
- Mix the dal and rice batters, add the salt and set aside to ferment for about 6 - 8 hours.
- Steam in greased idli moulds in a pressure cooker without the weight at least for 10 - 15 minutes.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney and small onion sambar.

- 300 grams parboiled rice
- 75 grams black gram dal
- Salt to taste
