MUTTON PUFFS

Preparation Method :

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns and cardamom in it. When they crackle, add onion and sauté till translucent.
  • Add tomatoes and cook till pulpy and then add turmeric powder, ginger and garlic and saute for 3 minutes.
  • Then add minced meat and mix well. Add sufficient water and salt and cook covered until the meat turns tender.
  • Then add chili powder and Garam masala and cook for a few more minutes till the mixture becomes dry.
  • Add lime juice and stir well. Remove from heat and allow cooling.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F/ Gas 4.
  • Cut each pastry sheet into 5 rectangular pieces about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long.
  • Add some cooked mince on one half of each piece, and brush the edges with water. Fold the remaining half over and press the edges to seal. Arrange the pastry packets on a greased baking tray.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes; until the puff turns crisp and golden.
  • Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams minced lamb or mutton
  • 4 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 big tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1½ teaspoon ginger, finely grated
  • 6 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 2 one-inch sticks cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon Garam masala        
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice
  • 1 package (500 grams) puff pastry sheets
  • Salt to taste
  • IDHAYAM MANTRA Peanut oil
