KALA CHANNA

Preparation Method :

  • Wash and soak the black gram overnight.
  • Drain the water. Place the channa with water & 1 teaspoon of salt in a pressure cooker, cook to 2 whistles and lower heat for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let the pressure drop by itself.
  • Heat oil in a clean kadhai, add cumin seeds and stir till golden. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, ½ teaspoon salt and chilli power.
  • Stir and add the cooked channa with the water into the kadhai. Cook for about 7-8 minutes or till dry. Sprinkle dry mango powder if using. Serve hot with halwa.

  • 400 grams black gram
  • 1½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 3 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1½ teaspoon dry mango powder, optional
  • 6 tablespoon Sesame oil
