Preparation Method :
- Soak the black gram dal in 2 cups of water for hours. Drain well.
- Grind the black gram dal to a smooth batter. Add the salt, peppercorns, asafoetida powder, curry leaves and chopped coconut.
- Heat oil in a frying pan. Shape the batter into golf balls and drop gently into the oil. Fry till golden.
- Drain on kitchen paper. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
INGREDIENTS
- 150 grams black gram dal
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
- ½ teaspoon asafoetida powder
- A few curry leaves
- 25 grams thinly chopped fresh coconut
- Cooking oil for frying
- Salt to taste
