GRAPE AND WALNUT RAITHA

Refreshing raithas are served to cool the effect of hot curries. Cucumber and mint raitha is the best-known combination. Here is a refreshing fruit and nut version, which is particularly good with beef curries.
Serves :

Preparation Method :

  • Place the yogurt in a chilled bowl and add the grapes and walnuts.
  • Slice the bananas directly into the bowl and fold in gently before they turn brown.
  • Add the sugar, salt and ground cumin, and gently mix them.
  • Chill, and just before serving, sprinkle on the cumin seeds, chilli powder, or paprika.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 ml natural (plain) yogurt
  • 75 grams seedless grapes
  • 50 grams shelled walnuts
  • 2 firm bananas
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • Salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground cumin seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly roasted cumin seeds, chilli powder or paprika, to garnish
