Preparation Method :
- Wash and drain the rice. Heat the oil and fry the onions along with the spices over a medium heat until the onions are golden brown.
- Add the salt and rice and stir, using a slotted spoon so that the rice is not damaged.
- Pour in the water and bring to the boil, lower the heat, until the rice is cooked. Serve hot.
INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams basmati rice
- 100 grams ghee or unsalted butter
- 75 grams onions, peeled and sliced
- 4 bay leaves
- 3 black peppercorns
- 3 green cardamoms
- ½ teaspoon caraway seeds
- 2 cloves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 700 ml water
