Preparation Method :
- Heat the ghee in a large saucepan. Add the onion and fry, for about 1-2 minutes.
- Simmer to low flame, add the ginger, garlic and turmeric, stir-fry for a minute or two.
- Add the rice and dhal to the mixture and mix gently. Adjust seasoning with salt, to taste.
- Add in the measured water and bring to the boil. Simmer to low flame and cook, covered for about 20-25 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked rice and lentils to a serving dish and serve immediately.

- 500 ml water
- 150 grams masoor dhal, cleaned and rinsed
- 2 tablespoon ghee
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 inch fresh ginger root, finely chopped
- 4-5 fresh garlic cloves, crushed
- Salt, to taste
- A pinch of turmeric
