Preparation Method :
- Wash the rice thoroughly, drain and set aside.
- Heat the ghee and fry the sliced onions and mustard seeds.
- Blend in the salt, turmeric, rice and lemon juice together, gently stir with a slotted spoon.
- Now pour in the water, lower the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for about 20-25 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and allow the rice to stand for at least 5 minutes before serving.
INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams basmati rice
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- 125 grams ghee or unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 50 grams onion, peeled and sliced
- 800 ml water
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon salt
