NIMBOO KAY CHAWAL

Preparation Method :

  • Wash the rice thoroughly, drain and set aside.
  • Heat the ghee and fry the sliced onions and mustard seeds.
  • Blend in the salt, turmeric, rice and lemon juice together, gently stir with a slotted spoon.
  • Now pour in the water, lower the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer for about 20-25 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and allow the rice to stand for at least 5 minutes before serving.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams  basmati rice    
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • 125 grams  ghee or unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 50 grams onion, peeled and sliced
  • 800 ml water
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
