BHUNI KHICHRI

Preparation Time :
15 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Heat 3 tablespoon ghee. Add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamoms and cloves. Wait for a minute till fragrant.
  • Drain dal and add to the ghee. Fry for 3 minutes on high heat, stirring continuously.
  • Drain and add rice and fry some more, if it sticks put in a little more ghee. Add ginger.
  • Add hot water. Add salt and sugar; a few green chillies may also be added. Bring to a boil.
  • Cover and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes till dry. Remove from heat. Serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams channa dal- soak for 30 minutes
  • 200 grams rice- soak for 10 minutes
  • 1" piece ginger-grated
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2" piece cinnamon
  • 6 green cardamoms
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 green chillies
