Preparation Method :
- Soak tamarind in hot water & extract juice.
- Cook rice.It should be cooked half.then only each the rice grain will be separate
- Heat 4 teaspoons of oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter. Add dal,red chilies and roast; now add peanuts, curry leaves, tamarind extract, turmeric powder and salt. stir well to mix and pressure cook for 3 whistles. open lid and thicken if required.
- Add the rest of the sesame oil.
- Mix with steamed rice. keep 'tamarind rice' for a couple of hours before serving.
- Serve with papads.

- 1 kg rice
- 2 large lemon sized tamarind
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 200 gram roasted unsalted peanuts
- 1 teaspoon asafoetida powder
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon chana dal
- a few curry leaves
- 4 red chilies
- 200 ml sesame oil
- salt to taste
