Preparation Method :
- Cook the rice and set aside. Heat 1 tablespoon ghee and fry the cashew nuts till golden. Set aside.
- The Spice Powder: Dry roast the ingredients for the spice powder. Grind fine and set aside.
- Heat 2 tablespoon ghee, add the mustard seeds, Bengal gram dal, black gram dal, red chilli, asafoetida powder and curry leaves.
- When the mustard seeds splutter, add the chopped green chillies.
- Mix in the cooked rice. Sprinkle in spice powder and salt. Mix gently till well blended.
- Garnish with the fried cashew nuts. Serve hot with papadams.

- 150 grams uncooked rice
- 2 tablespoon cashew nuts, halved
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- Salt to taste
Spice Powder
- 2 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoon grated copra
- 2 tablespoon black gram dal
- 1½ teaspoon black peppercorns
Tempering
- 2 tablespoon ghee
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Bengal gram dal
- 1 teaspoon black gram dal
- 1 dry red chilli, halved
- ½ teaspoon asafoetida powder
- A few curry leaves
- 2 green chillies, chopped fine
