DAL GOSHT

Preparation Method :

  • For the Gosht
  • Clean and wash the meat, apply the ginger garlic paste, salt and mix well. Keep aside.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, heat water, mutton and cook covered on high for 20 minutes. Remove and keep aside.
  • For the Dal
  • In a microwave bowl, heat water and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove and soak the dals in water for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Add the onions, tomatoes, turmeric powder and salt to the soaked dals and microwave on high for 20 minutes. Stirring after 5 minutes.
  • Remove and whisk well until the dal is smooth and no lumps remain.
  • Add the tamarind pulp, mix well and keep aside.
  • For the tempering
  • In a microwave safe bowl, heat the sesame oil on high for 2 minutes.
  • Add the chopped garlic, dry red chillies, cumin powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stirring once in between.
  • Add the cooked meat, along with the stock and tempering to the cooked dal and mix well.
  • Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot garnished with the coriander. 

INGREDIENTS

For the Gosht

  • 500 grams mutton
  • 1 tablespoon garlic and ginger paste
  • Salt to taste

For the Dal

  • 100 grams masoordal (split red lentils)
  • 50 grams arhar dal
  • 50 grams channa dal
  • 50 grams urad dal (split black lentils)
  • 200 grams onions finely chopped
  • 200 grams tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon tamarind pulp

For the tempering

  • 2 tablespoon garlic chopped
  • 3-4 dry red chilli
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 3 tablespoon IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped coriander for garnishing
