BALTI DHANSAK

Preparation Time :

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a Balti pan, wok or large frying pan over a medium heat.
  • Add the onion, garlic, fenugreek seeds and cumin seeds and fry, stirring, for about 10 minutes until golden.
  • Add the meat and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the tomatoes and Balti sauce and simmer for a further 10 minutes.
  • Add the lentils, sugar, lemon juice and garam masala, and chilli powder and salt to taste. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • Stir in the coriander and serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 450 grams cooked meat
  • 250 grams red lentils, pre-cooked
  • 50 ml sesame oil
  • 2 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 300 grams chopped tomatoes in natural juice
  • 400 ml Balti sauce
  • 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon Balti garam masala
  • Salt and chilli powder to taste
  • 2 tablespoon fresh coriander, finely chopped
