Preparation Method :
- Apply Turmeric power and Salt in the Fish pieces and keep it aside for a while.
- Grind the Cumin Seeds, Fennel Seeds, Ginger, Garlic, Onion and Tomato an d Make a fine paste.
- Heat Mustard Oil in frying pan and Fry the Fish pieces until they turn light golden brown and remove from oil and keep them aside.
- Reheat Mustard Oil in the Kadai, Add Whole Fennel, Whole Fenugreek seeds, Bay leaf and let it splutter.
- Add Masala paste. Keep the flame in medium and stir until the oil separates out of the mixture.
- Beat Yogurt in a Cup along with Sugar in Warm Water and add it to fried masala mixture above.
- Add the Cinnamon stick, Raisins, Salt and bring the mixture to boil.
- Again low the flame and add the fried Fish pieces until the consistency of the curry is neither very watery nor very thick and is just right. (Bengalis like to eat the fish curry along with rice)
- Finally, add Ghee on top of it and off the flame.
- Serve with steamed rice.

- 1 medium sized Onion
- 1 small sized Tomato
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- ½ teaspoon Whole Fennel + Whole Fenugreek seeds
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 piece Cinnamon stick
- 2 teaspoons Chilli Powder
- 200 ml Yogurt
- ½ teaspoon Sugar
- 10 grams Raisins
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 400 ml Warm Water
- 1 teaspoon Ghee
