FISH IN YOGHURT SAUCE

Preparation Time :

Preparation Method :

  • Combine the fish with salt and little turmeric powder in a bowl and set aside to marinate for 20 minutes.
  • Whisk yoghurt along with remaining turmeric powder, gram flour, chili powder, cumin powder, sugar, Garam masala and sufficient salt in a bowl until smooth and well-combined.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and add marinated fish and stir gently. Remove and drain on absorbent paper.
  • To the same pan, add bay leaves, onions and chilies and fry till onions are translucent.
  • Then add spiced yoghurt and stir continuously, till it becomes thick and glossy.
  • Add fish and cook till the fish is tender and the sauce coats the fish.
  • Remove from heat and transfer it a serving bowl.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or Luchi. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams skinless fish fillet
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 500 ml yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 small bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 tablespoons IDHAYAM HARDIL Mustard oil
  • Salt to taste
