BENGALI-STYLE FISH

Serves :
4

Preparation Time :
20 minutes

Cooking Time :
40 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Rub the fish pieces with turmeric and salt.
  • Heat the oil in a frying-pan and fry the fish pieces until pale yellow. Remove the fish with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  • Transfer the spicy paste to a saucepan and dry-fry until golden brown.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and gently place the fish pieces into the paste without breaking the fish up.
  • Return the pan to the heat, add the water and cook the fish for about 20 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kg cod fillet, skinned and cut into pieces
  • 500 ml water
  • 100 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, to garnish

Pound to Paste - Spicy Mixture

  • 4-5 green chillies
  • 1 inch fresh ginger root, finely chopped
  • 3-4 fresh garlic cloves, crushed
  • 100 grams onions, finely chopped
  • 150 grams tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 100 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
