VIRUDHUNAGAR PAROTTA

Virudhunagar Parotta is a unique kind of making with deep frying and loved by the leading film personalities and national leaders like Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Dr.MGR, Mr.K. kamaraj etc. Virudhunagar is town near madurai. You can find more than 30 Parotta Shops over there.

Preparation Time :
3 hours 40 minutes

Cooking Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Mix maidha, 5 tablespoons oil with salt, (2 eggs optional) and necessary water mix it well.
  • Put a thin, wet cloth on the mixed flour and close the vessel with the lid.
  • After 3 hours take a little quantity of the paratha mix and keep it on the flat larger board.
  • Flatten the flour mix with hand.
  • Then, pull it around the board to a very thin layer, caring not to tear. Make it multi layers and rotate it to a round shape and flatten it.
  • Heat the dosa pan or preferably kadai with sufficient oil.
  • Deep fry the flatten parotta.
  • Turn to other side and fry till it gets light golden colour. Take it from the pan and keep it on a flat plate. Press the parotta with two hands to get flaky.
  • Now the parotta is ready.
