HORSE GRAM (MUTHIRA) OOLARTHU

Preparation Method :

  • Add sufficient water and cook the gram in a pressure cooker. If any water is left after the gram is cooked, cook it dry.
  • Fry mustard in hot oil and saute the onion slices till golden brown in colour.
  • Add curry leaves and the crushed ingredients, sauté for few minutes.
  • Add the cooked gram. Sprinkle salt to taste and roast till dry.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams horse gram, cleaned and rinsed 
  • 75 grams large onion thinly sliced lengthwise
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 4 dry chillies, crushed 
  • 10-12 button onions, crushed 
  • 9 garlic cloves in skin, crushed 
  • ½ teaspoon pepper, crushed 
  • ½ teaspoon mustard
  • A few curry leaves 
  • Salt to taste
