CHUNDUM PAYARUM

Preparation Method :

  • Remove a few outer layers of the banana flower and chop the inner flower fine by hand or it into medium sized pieces and mince it in a mincing machine.
  • Wish the chopped banana flower in plenty of water.
  • Drain off the water and squeeze dry.
  • Pressure-cook the green gram in 300 ml of water and 'A teaspoon salt, on medium heat for 10 minutes.
  • Heat the oil and add the mustard. When it crackles add the curry leaves.
  • Add the chopped banana flower and saute for a minute.
  • Grind the coconut coarsely along with the shallots, green chillies, turmeric and salt.
  • Place this mixture over the chopped banana flower and let the steam pass through the ground coconut.
  • Mix well, add the cooked gram and mix again and steam for another 5 minutes.
  • Remove from fire and serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams Banana flower, Cleaned and chopped fine
  • 2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 200 grams Green gram
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 200 grams Grated coconut
  • 25 grams Green chillies
  • 4 Nos Shallots
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 4 sprigs Curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoon Mustard
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
