CHAKKA PURATTIATHU (MASHED JACKFRUIT)

Preparation Method :

  • Cook the jack fruit slices with a little water and salt. Mash it with a ladle.
  • Grind the chilli powder with turmeric powder, button onion and cumin seeds. Crush the coconut and mix the ground masala together.
  • Place the masala in the centre of the mashed jackfruit and cover it with the jackfruit slices. Cover and cook the masala. Mix everything together when the masala is cooked.
  • Heat the oil. Fry mustard, onion, curry leaves, chilli pieces and grated coconut.
  • When the smell of the fried coconut comes up, remove from heat and mix with the mashed jackfruit.

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 cups jackfruit pod slices, cleaned and deseeded
  • 120 grams grated coconut 
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder 
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 4 button onions
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste

Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoon grated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoon onions finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon mustard 
  • A few curry leaves
  • 2 dry red chillies each halved
