IDICHAKKA THORAN

Preparation Method :

  • Peel the jackfruit. Take care to grease before you work with the fruit. Though the there is hardly any sticky sap in tender jackfruit unlike the ripe ones. Clean well. Chop the fruit to fine pieces.
  • Rub the chopped fruit with salt and turmeric. Cook covered till tender. Take care not to overcook.
  • In a blender roughly grind coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, garlic and shallots. Mix this with the cooked fruit.
  • To season, heat coconut oil in a pan, splutter the mustard and add red chillies and curry leaves.
  • Pour this over the fruit and coconut mix.
  • Mix well. serve hot with rice. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 medium raw jackfruit
  • 2 coconuts grated
  • 8 shallots
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 5 green chillies
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste

For seasoning

  • 5 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 6 dry red chillies
  • 4 sprigs of curry leaves
