CHERUPAYAR THOREN (GREEN GRAM THOREN)

20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Crush garlic, onion, green chilli and grated coconut. Grind the pepper, cumin seeds and turmeric powder. Mix together.
  • Place the ground masala with the green gram and cover it with some gram.
  • When steam starts escaping, stir gently and allow it to get dry without getting smashed.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt and mix well. Heat the oil and temper the seasoning.
  • Toss in the prepared gram and saute till seasoned.

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams grated coconut
  • 6 pepper corns
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 150 grams green gram, Cleaned, rinsed, broiled and cooked 
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 garlic flakes
  • 2 button onion
  • Green chilli 
  • Salt to taste

Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon rice
  • 2 tablespoon onion chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon mustard
  • 1 dry red chilli, cut into small pieces
  • A few curry leaves
