DRIED PRAWN VEVICHATHU WITH COCONUT

Preparation Method :

  • Roast dry-chillies, coriander, pepper, fenugreek and mustard in ½ dessert spoon oil and grind with turmeric.
  • Heat 2 dessert spoon oil and add mustard, When it splutters add onion and curry leaves and saute.
  • Add the ground paste and when browned add water, When it boils add the ingredients fish tamarind, ginger, garlic, coconut and the cooked prawn.
  • Mix the prawn stock and cover the pan and cook. When the gravy is thick remove and serve when cooled.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams Prawns dry prawns cooked in 400 ml of water 
  • Dry chillies to taste 
  • 10 grams Coriander 
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper 
  • ⅛ teaspoon Fenugreek 
  • ⅛ teaspoon Mustard 
  • 1 small piece Turmeric 
  • 50 ml Coconut oil 
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard 
  • 1 dessert spoon Red onions sliced long 
  • 2 stalks Curry leaves 
  • 400 ml Water 
  • 5 pieces Fish tamarind (kudampuli) 
  • ½ teaspoon Ginger sliced long 
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic sliced long 
  • 100 grams Coconut cut into thin chips 
  • 50 ml Stock from boiling prawns 
  • Salt to taste
