MEEN VATTIPATTICHATHU

Preparation Method :

  • Clean the fish and drain off the water.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the mustard, when it begins to crackle, add the fenugreek and fry till golden brown.
  • Add all the crushed ingredients, along with the curry leaves, broken red chillies and saute for 5 minutes.
  • Add salt, followed by the fish pieces.
  • And Kokum along with the water in which Kokum was soaked.
  • Add the water, stir gently and boil for 5 minutes.
  • Lower heat and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  • Remove from fire and serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 grams Dressed fish, cut into pieces
  • 100 grams Shallots
  • 50 grams Ginger
  • 50 grams Garlic
  • 10 grams Green chillies
  • 5 sprigs Curry leaves
  • 50 grams Kokum, soaked in 50 ml of water
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 4 nos. Red chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Fenugreek
  • 3 teaspoons Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Sesame Oil
