AMBADE SANSAV (HOG PLUM FRUIT)

Preparation Method :

  • Grind the coconut, black pepper, cumin seeds, turmeric, chilli powder, tamarid and green chillies to coarse paste.
  • Heat oil in a sauce pan and sauté urad dal, methi seeds, mustard seeds, chilli flakes, asafetida and curry leaves till it becomes brown.
  • Add the hog plums and stir well.
  • Add grated jaggery and ground masala.
  • Then add little water and allow to boil for about 3 - 5 minutes.
  • Adjust seasoning and serve hot with rice or roti.

INGREDIENTS

  • 20 Hog plums (ambade), Rinsed, peeled. Marinte with salt
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon Curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoon grated sugarcane jaggery
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1½ teaspoon Small ball of tamarind
  • 220 grams Grated coconut
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper corns
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Urad dhal
  • 1 Red chilli flakes
  • ½ teaspoon Asafetida
  • Salt to taste
