PARUPPU PAYASAM

Preparation Method :

  • Broil the dhal over medium heat in a kadai till golden brown.
  • Take a pan, add measured water with milk and cook the roasted dal until it is tender and the liquid is reduced by half.
  • Add sugar, cardamom. Stir and simmer for about 3 - 5 minutes. Add the grated coconut and stir.
  • Remove from fire, garnish with sliced coconut, cashew nuts and serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 litres Milk
  • 145 grams Sugar        
  • 100 grams Moong dal, cleaned and rinsed    
  • 220 grams Coconut (slice some for garnish and grate the balance)
  • 1 teaspoon Green cardamom powder     
  • 2 tablespoon Cashewnuts, splited    
  • Cooking Oil to deep fry
