Preparation Method :
- Heat the ghee and add the whole spices, fry briefly, then put in the onions and chillies and fry till the onions start changing colour.
- Put in the tomatoes, sugar and turmeric powder and cook till the tomatoes turn soft. Adjust seasoning with salt.
- Add the drained rice and fish, mix well. Pour in cups water, bring to a boil and cook till the rice is cooked.
- Cover the vessel with a thick cloth, then with a tight-fitting lid and place it over a girddle.
- Simmer to low flame for about 5-10 minutes. Serve hot garnished with cashewnuts, egg slices and coriander leaves.

- 300 grams rice, washed, soaked and drained
- 550 grams shellfish, washed, heat without water and take out the fish from shells
- 250 grams tomatoes, blanched and sliced
- 30 grams fried cashewnuts
- 50 grams ghee
- 100 grams onion, minced
- ½ teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ inch piece cinnamon stick
- 4-6 cloves
- 4-6 cardamoms
- 3-4 red chillies, broken
- 2 hard-boiled eggs, shelled and cut into thin rings
- Handful of coriander leaves, finely chopped
- Salt, to taste
