MEATBALL CURRY

Preparation Method :

  • Mix in the chopped coriander leaves, garlic, chilli powder, turmeric powder and a bit of salt in a mixing bowl.
  • Add in the mince and mix with the spices. Keep aside. Shape the marinated mince into golf balls.
  • In a non-stick pan, heat half the oil and drop in the meatballs.
  • Cook, covered for 2-3 minutes or until both the sides turn golden. Remove and drain on absorbent kitchen towels.
  • Reheat the pan with the remaining oil and cook the onions till they are golden brown.
  • Add in the spice paste and cook for 5-7 minutes stirring continuously till the raw spice taste has gone.
  • Add in the tomatoes and cook till soft and mushy. When the oil starts coming out of the mixture add in the vinegar, potatoes and 3 cups of water; bring it to a boil.
  • Drop in the meatballs and the green chillies. Simmer till the potatoes are cooked and the gravy is fairly thick. Taste and adjust seasonings, remove from the heat and serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

The Curry:

  • 200 grams onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Malt vinegar
  • 150 grams Peeled potato cubes
  • 150 grams tomatoes, chopped
  • 4-6 Slit green chillies
  • Salt to taste

The Spice Paste :

  • 15 grams Dried red chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Black peppercorns
  • ½ teaspoon Poppy seeds
  • 3-4 Cloves
  • 1-2 Cinnamon sticks
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon Cleaned garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoon Cleaned ginger

The Meatballs:

  • 550 grams Minced lamb, washed and cleaned
  • 2 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped  
  • 2 teaspoon garlic, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Chilli powder
  • A pinch of Turmeric powder
