SPICY BAKED FISH WITH LEMON

15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish with half the chilli paste, salt and turmeric powder at least for half an hour.
  • Place the marinated fish in an oiled baking tray and cover all the sides with the spiced onion mixture.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and toss in the onions and stir till they are golden.
  • Add the garlic and when it changes colour, drop in the remaining chilli paste and keep stirring for about a minute or two to prevent it from burning.
  • Add in the tomatoes and adjust seasoning with salt, cook till the tomatoes are mushy. Add in half the coriander leaves and remove from the heat.
  • Bake the fish in a preheated oven 180°C / 350°F / Gas mark 4 for about 7-10 minutes or until the fish is golden and done.
  • Remove from the oven, drizzle with the lemon juice and coriander leaves and serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams Pomfrets, cleaned, washed and incised  
  • 75 grams onions, chopped
  • 75 grams Red chilli paste
  • 75 grams tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 25 ml IDHAYAM Sesame Oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Juice of one lemon
